Maria has a passport!

Our pretty Panamanian Princess!

Maria found another mango tree!

Well, today didn't go as we had planned. We were supposed to go to the Embassy to start Maria's Visa process today, but hit a speed bump. The computers were down Monday in Santiago, so they couldn't get the necessary information into the system for us to get her new birth certificate. They didn't get it all entered until 10 am today (Tuesday) so we were not able to the passport office until almost noon - so it took ALL afternoon. But Maria has a passport now! With her new name - she is really proud that she has a passport like ours now! She also has a birth certificate listing us as her parents! Of course she'll get another one in the states when we re-adopt there, but this one is pretty cool to see! It's all been a long time coming. We plan to be at the Embassy when they open in the morning (Lord willing), and hopefully will get her medical exam tomorrow as well. Then pray we can get her Visa by Friday (pray hard!). We've been told it shouldn't be a problem, but we've been told so many things............we'll have to put it in God's hands. Maria is doing great. We're working through some behavior issues such as manners and appropriate social behavior. She doesn't like waiting in line (for example). I handed her a wet wipe in TGI Fridays tonight (hey Rick and Michelle, guess where we're staying now!) and she wiped her hands......then her face, arms, legs, and feet.........we had to try and explain that she only needed to wipe her hands - she looked so puzzled - she likes to be clean, and didn't see the problem. She doesn't always want to listen to our instructions when there are other people around - she ignores us - so we had to ban her from the pool tomorrow. She seemed to get the picture and has promised to obey so she can play in the pool on Thursday. She loves to give hugs and kisses now, and talks about her sisters all the time - when it is just us she talks constantly! She is still very quiet with others around. She seems to have difficulty hearing people on the telephone, so we're going to have her hearing checked. She is excited about the plane ride and meeting all her new family and friends! We've been looking at pictures on the computer. She got almost angry at us tonight - she saw a picture of my Daddy (who passed away 2 weeks before we left for Panama). She was determined that he had come to the children's home and visited her in December. We told her that it must have been a man that looked like Papaw - but she was determined that is was him! We just let it go. It makes me sad that she never got to meet her Papaw, so if she believes she did, then so be it! We post an update about our Embassy adventure tomorrow. We love you all!

Hello Skinner family,

Billy wants a mango tree !! Just pack one in your suitcase, (ha ha, just kidding). Faith & Billy want to know when they can meet Maria. They are very excited also. They keep asking if you are back so they can see her in person.
How much is the price of gas there ?? Can you find a pretty Panamanian outift for the kids ? I will pay you back. I belive the girls wear the tiered skirts & puffy sleeve shirts ?? I just need a shirt for billy.

Our visitors were saying on Sunday there was not much to do here when the doorbell rung. My neighbor asked me what color my horses are, not a good ?, they were across the street Soni broke down the new fencing we worked 2 weekends on. Daddy was not happy !!! So Soni & Gabi got to see how much fun it is to round up 2 horses, yee haw !!! That was definately not boring !!
